Don't Dress for Dinner, presented by the acclaimed Adelaide Repertory Theatre, opens at the Art Theatre, Angas Street, Adelaide 17 - 26 November, 2016. This fast moving witty comedy farce is the perfect start to the holiday season. It's the tale of how disception coupled with misunderstandings and half truths can get people into trouble - with the most amusing results. If you enjoyed Boeing Boeing you'll love Don't Dress for Dinner.

As Director Norm Caddick says: "Don't Dress for Dinner is based on the premise: Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive".

Don't Dress for Dinner is the company's final production for the year. It is a clever, funny, sophisticated farce written by Marc Comeletti, the author of the hit Boeing Boeing. An elegant comedy, with hilarious, situational confusions and misunderstandings and a perfect close to the Company's busy, successful 2016 season.

The 'Coat' and The Piggery or the Cowshed?
Key components of the success of productions are dedicated teams of creative people which in Don't Dress for Dinner provide essential components of the plot: creating the coveted "Chanel" coat and elegant costumes and designing a set which breathes the ambience of a convertEd French farmhouse near Paris; prompting remarks about sleeping arrangements - "Which would you prefer, the piggery or the cowshed?"

Costuming is in the capable hands of Aubade, who created the coat; a status symbol which wealthy architect Bernard bought for his mistress for Eu5,000. This coat becomes an active prop; frequently changing hands.

The Adelaide Rep has been in constant production since 1908 and whilst we don't know the total of productions that represents, we do know that Don't Dress for Dinner is the 64th production this century.

Being a 108 years old this year, the Adelaide Rep is the oldest surviving theatre company in the Southern Hemisphere. And, since 1963, has presented productions in its own theatre.

What's the secret of the company's longevity? Professional standaRD Productions presented with style and elegance with astute directors, tight creative teams and a never ending stream of talented actors - some who have gone on to professional lives. And long may it continue.
