It's 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favourite wedding singer. He's the life of the party, until his own fiancee leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. Only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.

With a brand new score that pays loving homage to the pop songs of the 1980's, The Wedding Singer takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer might just be the coolest guy in the room.

With music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and the book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, The Wedding Singer is based upon the New Line Cinema film written by Tim Herlihy and is presented in conjunction with Hal Leonard Australia Pty Ltd, exclusive agents for Music Theatre International (NY).

Starring Rohan Watts as Robbie Hart, Tegan Gully as Julia Sullivan, Gavin Cianci as Glen Guglia, Sarah Wildy as Linda and Rachel Da Graca Costa as Holly, Marie Clark's The Wedding Singer is directed by Max Rayner, with musical direction by Ben Stefanoff and choreography by Rachel Dow.

Director Max Rayner says "The Wedding Singer has received rave reviews from Broadway, as the show's popularity is now universal. This highly acclaimed musical comedy has received five Tony Award nominations including "Best Musical," eight Drama Desk Award nominations including "Outstanding Music" and three Drama League Award nominations including "Distinguished Production of a Musical." Our production features a cast of many of Adelaide's most talented performers and I look forward to presenting our production to a new wave of musical goers in 2015."

He also says "The Wedding Singer will have you laughing all the way down the aisle. This hit romantic comedy, based on the 1998 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore film is coming to the Arts Theatre for performances in May 2015. The musical celebrates the best pop songs of the 80's, pop culture references and, of course, big hair!"

This production of The Wedding Singer is to be performed at The Arts Theatre, corner Angas and Moore Streets, Adelaide, and runs for a strictly limited season of eight shows: May 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30 at 8pm, and May 23 and 30 at 2pm.
