Runaway Success North By Northwest Makes Adelaide Debut

Runaway Success North By Northwest Makes Adelaide Debut ImageFollowing sell-out seasons in Melbourne, the UK and Toronto, the triumphant stage adaption of Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest is kicking off Adelaide Festival Centre's Season 2019 including a special New Year's Eve performance at Festival Theatre.

Originally produced by Melbourne Theatre Company and Kay + McLean Productions, the reworking of Hitchcock's classic spy-thriller won over audiences and critics alike with glowing reviews and standing ovations.

The talented cast includes Adelaide's own Amber McMahon as femme fatale, Eve Kendall, and acclaimed actor Matt Day in the leading role of man-on-the-run, Roger O. Thornhill.

Adapted for stage by Carolyn Burns and directed by Simon Phillips, North by Northwest charts the suave Roger O. Thornhill's serious case of mistaken identity from New York to North Dakota. Clever set design, dynamic projections and an instantly recognisable score bring the film adaptation to life.

Producer Liza McLean: "We are thrilled by the success of North by Northwest in Australia and overseas, and particularly proud to be working with a stellar all Australian creative team translating Hitchcock's iconic film to the stage. It's wonderful to be working with Adelaide Festival Centre with our production returning to Australia for an Adelaide season before continuing its future international acclaim with additional seasons planned for London and North America."

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director, Douglas Gautier: "We are delighted to bring this box office hit to Adelaide audiences. The glamour, thrill and intelligence of the production will definitely shine on the magnificent Festival Theatre stage. Playing for a strictly limited season, this will be an unmissable event."
