Mimi Crowe Joins State Theatre Company as Head of Development

By: Dec. 01, 2015

State Theatre Company announced today that widely respected arts administrator Mimi Crowe will join its executive team in the role of Head of Development and Strategy, following the departure of Development Manager Guy Ross who will join the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra as Chief Operating Officer.

Executive Director/Producer Rob Brookman welcomed the appointment of Ms Crowe who has for the last two years been Executive Producer of the Art Gallery of South Australia's acclaimed Tarnanthi Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art.

Rob Brookman said: "We are delighted to welcome Mimi Crowe into State Theatre Company. She is a remarkably accomplished arts administrator whose recent work on the Tarnanthi project has built on an outstanding record of achievement in the arts in South Australia. She will take on an expanded role, not only heading up our fundraising team but also taking a crucial role in strategic planning and government relations."

Mimi Crowe's most recent role with Tarnanthi included leadership of strategic direction, production and financial management of a festival that involved not only the Art Gallery of SA but 22 partner institutions. She also played an important role in managing one of the State's largest ever arts sponsorships - a $4 million corporate sponsorship from BHP Billiton.

Mimi Crowe said: "The State Theatre Company is an incredible organisation and I can't wait to join such a dynamic and exciting team. I'm especially pleased to work in the theatre again and am looking forward to making a contribution to the remarkable success of this Company."

Prior to the Tarnanthi project Ms Crowe has held senior positions in The Office for Design & Architecture (General Manager) and Arts SA (Manager, Cultural Heritage) as well as brief stints working in Youth Arts (the ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Young People and Come Out).

Ms Crowe started her career in the theatre where she has worked as an actor, stage manager, producer and teacher. Her initial studies were at Central Washington University and she continued her career in the theatre in both the US and Ireland before moving to Adelaide in 2001. Alongside her busy career, Ms Crowe has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management and an MBA at the University of South Australia.
