JUDAS A Political Thriller With Biblical Bite Has World Premiere In Support Of Amnesty International

By: Jan. 19, 2019

In a contemporary single-faith Middle Eastern state, a charismatic preacher with a radical message of peace emerges from the desert. As religious violence tears the region apart, his followers are pursued, persecuted and imprisoned. Finally, a 21st century 'Judas' is arrested, interrogated and ultimately forced to betray his leader; but is he really the betrayer or betrayed, and who is ultimately pulling the strings?

From the same team that presented the 5 Star sell-out show 'Mengele' and award winning 'Shell Shock' at Adelaide Fringe 2018, JUDAS is a new play, premiering at the 2019 Fringe. A scratch performance in Brighton was described as "an intriguing, surprising and relevant parable for modern times" (Fringe Guru). This production features Adelaide Critics CircleEmerging Artist of the Year Stefanie Rossi with Tim Marriott (Mengele, Shell Shock) and Marc Clement of STARC Productions directed by Tony Knight (Mengele, Toyer, Two, Reasonable Doubt).

JUDAS is co-produced by STARC Productions. STARC are a new Theatre Production Company run by Marc Clement, Tony Knight and Stefanie Rossi, aiming to showcase professional theatre performance in Adelaide. Recent productions at the Bakehouse include Toyer, Two and a sell out season of Reasonable Doubt.

This production will be supporting Amnesty International Australia. Through research and campaigning, Amnesty International fights abuses of human rights worldwide, working to bring torturers to justice, change oppressive laws and free people jailed for voicing their opinion. The JUDAS team will be working with local activists to take action for human rights defenders and support the work of Amnesty International.

"When human rights are denied, we won't be silent"
