FORBIDDEN BROADWAY to Open Today at Blackwood Players
'Broadway' is the Mecca for stage shows, and in particular, big musicals. When you make it on Broadway, the whole world knows that show. But then along comes 'Forbidden Broadway', a very clever musical spoof that takes the best known songs from the best known shows, and makes a hilarious parody, in a way you would never think possible.
There are a number of 'Forbidden Broadway' shows, and Blackwood Players latest offering features the most popular of these, being 'Forbidden Broadway Greatest Hits'. This fabulous show, penned by the very talented Gerard Alessandrini, has enjoyed record audiences all over the world, racking up over 9,000 performances, and winning 9 Drama Desk Awards and a special Tony Award.
Even the most famous, and the most loved, of the Broadway shows and the Broadway stars are not spared from the not so subtle wit of Alessandrini. Not even Chicago, Wicked, Hello Dolly, Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera, CATS, Fiddler on The Roof, Hairspray and A Chorus Line, to name just a few, are safe in this show.
This show features all live music, including from the talented pianist Sarah Klein on the main stage, plus a talented cast of 16 singers and dancers, making this a night to remember.
