The Corinthian Singers of Adelaide's next concert Anniversaries commemorates and celebrates the lives and works of great composers and other historical figures.

Anniversaries takes place 3.00pm Sunday 23 September 2018 at St John's Anglican Church, Halifax St, Adelaide. Tickets $30 and $25 at the door. Book online at https://www.trybooking.com/WMOM

Anniversaries' program will include a range of works including an excerpt from Rossini's opera Mosè in Egitto which premiered two hundred years ago in 1818, to living composer Corinthian Conductor Alistair Knight's own setting of the hymn Ubi Cartas.

The choir will perform Herbert Howells' monumental motet Take Him, Earth, for Cherishing, from a text translated by Helen Waddell, from a 4th-century poem by Aurelius Clemens Prudentius. The work was performed to commemorate the first anniversary of the assassination of President John F Kennedy.

Marking the 60th year of the death of Ralph Vaughan Williams the choir will present the jubilant motet O Clap Your Hands based on Psalm 47.

To commemorate the 120th year after the demise of writer Lewis Caroll the choir will perform Grammy award winning composer Danny Elfman's Alice's Theme from Tim Burton's quirky movie Alice in Wonderland, which was based on Caroll's book of the same name.

Also in the program will be Messiaen's liturgical motet O sacrum Convivium as well as four of Sir Hubert Parry's magnificent Songs of Farewell.

Join the Corinthian Singers to celebrate musical anniversaries in their Anniversaries concert.
