Andrew Kay and Associates and Adelaide Festival Centre Present the King's Head and In Your Face Production of TRAINSPOTTING

By:

Following sold out and extended seasons in the United Kingdom, Andrew Kay and Associates and Adelaide Festival Centre are thrilled to present the King's Head Theatre & In Your Face production of Irvine Welsh's cult, generation-defining novelTrainspotting from 17 February - 19 March during the Adelaide Fringe at Station Underground, a secret location in the CDB to be announced.

This punchy production captures the passion and controversy of the famous novel and globally successful film, and repackages it into a totally immersive production. The audience are literally part of the show, including the notorious 'Worst Toilet in Scotland' scene. Even Irvine Welsh said he was "shocked... and I wrote the f*cking thing!"

For avid fans this is a must, and if you've never read the book or seen the film: this is your ticket to a ride you won't forget. The Adelaide season coincides with the highly anticipated release of Trainspotting 2 the film on 2 February.

Trainspotting is the story of Mark Renton and his friends living through the Edinburgh heroin scene of the 80s. Harry Gibson's original stage adaptation, written before it became the famous blockbuster film, was instantly successful and controversial, and won the Sunday Times Award for Best New Play. For this 21st anniversary production, In Your Face Theatre's Scottish cast have created a snappy and vibrant affirmation of the power and humour of the piece.

Choose us. Choose life. Choose mortgage payments; choose washing machines; choose cars; choose sitting on a couch watching mind-numbing and spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing f*ckin junk food intae yir mooth. Choose rotting away, pushing and shiteing yersel in a home, a total f*ckin embarrassment tae the selfish, f*cked-up brats ye've produced. Choose life.

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and Artistic Director Douglas Gautier says, "Adelaide Festival Centre is committed to presenting work that challenges and pushes boundaries. Trainspotting is certainly a work that falls into this category. This is about engaging in experiences outside of our comfort zones. Come and see this iconic film come to life on stage".

Based on the novel by Irvine Welsh, adapted by Harry Gibson.
