The Adelaide Festival Centre's Adelaide Cabaret Festival is working with the Hong Kong Fringe Club to bring a taste of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival and Our Mob exhibition to Hong Kong this October 17 - 20.

Adelaide Festival Centre CEO and Artistic Director Douglas Gautier says, "This special event represents the first foray of one of the major Australian Festivals into Asia. This is part of our engagement with our region and is also helping to secure the international reputation of our Festival."

"The Adelaide Cabaret Festival is the largest and most prestigious Festival of its type in the world but other states are copying our example and this international element is keeping us ahead of the game."

The Adelaide Festival Centre is partnering with the South Australian Tourism Commission, Arts SA, SA food and wine producers and the SA education sector in a real team SA approach.

The South Australian Minister Assisting the Minister for the Arts, Chloe Fox says, "Adelaide is known as the Festival Capital of Australia and we want to bring that to a Hong Kong audience.

"This is a significant opportunity to market SA as a cultural, tourism and education destination as well as promoting our food and wine. I am confident people in Hong Kong will love what they will see.

"Up to 1,200 hundred patrons will see the Festival Shows and 3,000 people will go through the Our Mob Exhibition. These people - and many more through social media - will see the very best that South Australia has to offer in tourism, education and business."

The Fringe Club is one of the best multi-venue clubs in Central Hong Kong. It is a vibrant contemporary arts space where artists create and show their work and a place for those who enjoy the arts come to meet and experience wonderful live entertainment.

In October it will be transformed into a showcase venue for the Adelaide Cabaret Festivalwith a number of leading Australian Cabaret performers taking to the stage in a variety of performances over four nights. Artists include stunning Australian soprano Ali McGregor, Adelaide's own Michael Griffiths, charismatic cabaret king Paul Capsis, talented Sydney soloist Catherine Alcorn and French Australian duo Emma & Thomas Hamilton.

The Adelaide Festival Centre's Our Mob program will also be on show, presenting a travelling exhibition of some of the best Australian Indigenous artwork, which will be on display in the Hong Kong Fringe Club gallery. All works will be for sale and this is rare opportunity for Hong Kong art lovers and collectors to view and purchase a wide range of Indigenous Australian artwork.
