DIANA: THE UNTOLD AND UNTRUE STORY Trailer Released Ahead of Arcola Theatre London Run
The multi-award-winning Edinburgh Fringe hit combines drag, puppetry, and queer joy for a one-week London run.
A trailer has arrived for DIANA: THE UNTOLD AND UNTRUE STORY, the multi-award-winning solo show from Awkward Prods that brings the People's Princess back to life — in heaven, no less — for a one-week London engagement at the Arcola Theatre this July.
The production blends drag performance, puppetry, multimedia and audience interaction to construct a deliberately absurdist and queer reimagining of Diana's life story. Rather than a reverent biographical portrait, the show positions its subject as a heavenly narrator recounting her own extraordinary tale with irreverence and warmth — what its creators describe as a loving celebration delivered through a lens that is, by design, as hilarious as it is ridiculous. Awkward Prods previously brought London audiences GWYNETH GOES SKIING and THE FIT PRINCE.
DIANA: THE UNTOLD AND UNTRUE STORY arrives at the Arcola following a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and subsequent international touring, making its London premiere a significant homecoming moment for a show that has already accumulated considerable critical recognition on the festival circuit. Performances run 6 through 11 July at the Arcola Theatre in Hackney.
The Arcola has been a busy house this season, with recent productions including QUARTET IN AUTUMN and the transfer of DREAMSCAPE, the Edinburgh Fringe Award-winning hip-hop theatre piece, both drawing strong attention ahead of the summer programme.
