PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra presents “Neighborhood Week,” an entire week of classical orchestral and chamber music in some of Pittsburgh's most beloved locales. The landmark Supreme Court ruling handed down late last week instating national legalization of marriage rights for all individuals is a cause celebre for the country at large, particularly the Broadway community who has vocally and vociferously fought for equal acceptance for all for decades. Given the preponderance of LGBT people in the theatre community itself, this victory is a particular joy for many to celebrate. As a result of this momentous event, now is the ideal time to take a look back at the most important and notable musicals that have appeared on Broadway in the last several decades to shine a light on the gay community, ranging from portrayals of closeted individuals trapped and unable to find acceptance in a conservative society all the way to the out and proud representations available to see in some currently running smash hits. PITTSBURGH – The wonderful world of Disney joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with high-resolution film clips and  beloved music and songs for PNC Pops: Disney in Concert Tale as Old as Time, this weekend, June 19-21 at Heinz Hall.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is pleased to announce the fourth season for the 2015-2016 TRUST Cabaret Series. This popular series provides audiences with a rare opportunity to experience the finest cabaret artists and their outstanding musical accompanists at the intimate Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. The 2015-2016 TRUST Cabaret Series will showcase award-winning Broadway, stage and film stars Tommy Tune, Stephanie J. Peter Landgren, dean and Thomas James Kelly professor of music at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), has appointed leading Broadway producer Kevin McCollum to the position of Distinguished Visiting Professor. McCollum's initial appointment will be for three years and will become effective in August of 2015.

Sarasota Opera is proud to announce its plans for the 2015-2016 fall and winter season, the most climactic in the company's 56 year history. Baz Luhrmann may be moving on from Gatsby to 'The King.'

Today we are turning our attention to the recently announced stage adaptation of visionary theatre and film director Baz Luhrmann's blazing 1992 'Red Curtain Trilogy' entry STRICTLY BALLROOM, for which he has aligned a particularly impressive assortment of creative team members, with rehearsals currently underway for an opening set at the end of next month.

Like Enrico Caruso before him, Luciano Pavarotti extended his presence far beyond the limits of Italian opera. Quickly establishing his trademark rich sound as the great male operatic voice of the 20th century, he expanded his reach to stadium concerts and pop collaborations which brought him fame beyond measure. The 50th anniversary of the launch of Pavarotti's of meteoric international career is celebrated in Pavarotti: A Voice for the Ages, airing in December on THIRTEEN's Great Performances (check local listings). In New York, THIRTEEN will air the special tonight, November 30 at 6:30 p.m.
