The legend says that St. Bedric slew the griffin and gave prosperity to all the Christian people of the area. Discovering a black monk in the ghostly silence of the deserted village they tend his injuries but instead of thanks he demands the removal of the human heads from the avenue of death. The monk believes in their quest but nothing must interfere with the destruction of the evil force that holds the Cove in its grip. The monk has his own agenda and forces the good to face the evil.

The show runs tonight, August 30-September 28 at the Rep's downtown theatre Copaken Stage, 13th and Walnut Streets. The Tallest Tree in the Forest is a co-production with La Jolla Playhouse.

The newly-formed Goodman Innovation Group unites top-tier entrepreneurs with young theater leaders in a collective that injects the start-up mentality into the business of the theater. A new memoir by Robert Atwan has begun in Believer magazine from the perspective of Thomas Buchanan, Daisy's husband and the villain of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby. The memoir, which is titled “That Summer, 1922: A Counter Memoir by Thomas Buchanan,” is one of a few new versions of Fitzgerald's novel to be written recently. Since the release of Baz Luhrmann's movie of The Great Gatsby has caused a spike in sales of the novel, imitations are likely on the horizon.
