Lantern Theater Company concludes its record-smashing 2017/18 season with the regional premiere of Don't Dress for Dinner by French playwright Marc Camoletti. Lantern Resident Director Kathryn MacMillan will direct a cast that includes some of Philadelphia's finest comedic actors: Chris Anthony, Jessica Bedford, Marc LeVasseur, Lee Minora, Karen Peakes, and William Zielinski. Theater critics and members of the press are invited to request tickets for opening night on Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. by contacting Anne Shuff at ashuff@lanterntheater.org. The play is based on Sholem Asch's scandalous Yiddish play God of Vengeance which was the inspiration for Paula Vogel's new play, Indecent which premiered at the Vineyard Theatre last season. God of Vengeance premiered on Broadway at the Apollo Theatre in 1923 and featured Broadway's first lesbian kiss. The play was so far ahead of its time, the actors and producers were indicted for giving an immoral performance. Atar Hadari's, Merciful Father is a proactive new take on the story. The production is directed by UP's Artistic Director, James Bosley who has premiered three of his play with UP, including the critically acclaimed productions of Broad Channel, and Epic Poetry.

This landmark exhibition will highlight never-before-seen early work of Diane Arbus (1923-71), focusing on the first seven years of her career, from 1956 to 1962-the period in which she developed the idiosyncratic style and approach for which she has been recognized, praised, criticized, and copied the world over.

The fifth annual class of the National Student Poets Program (NSPP) the nation's highest honor for youth poets has been announced by the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH) in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the nonprofit Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The students were appointed by First Lady Michelle Obama at a ceremony earlier today in the State Dining Room at the White House. As part of an appointment ceremony, each of the students did a reading of an original poem.
