The first North American National Tour of WICKED will celebrate its five year anniversary on Saturday, March 20, at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House in Miami. Since its first performance in Toronto in March 2005, over 5.5 million people have seen the first North American National Tour of WICKED.

Tickets for the return engagement go on sale Friday, March 19, with a special On-sale event from 7-10 a.m. at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Box Office. Beginning performances on Tuesday, March 23, Mandy Gonzalez, who originated the role of Nina in the Broadway musical, In the Heights, will assume the role of Elphaba in WICKED. After breaking box office records and selling out in record time in 2007, the smash-hit musical WICKED will return to the Ohio Theatre for five weeks only July 28-August 29. Tickets for the return engagement will go on sale to the public Thursday, May 20.

The 2010 Olivier Awards will take place on 21 March 2010 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, with Spring Awakening, Enron, Jerusalem and A Little Night Music among the standouts of the season with the most nominations. The Laurence Olivier Awards were established in 1976 as The Society of West End Theatre Awards, and Lord Olivier agreed to have his name associated with them in 1984. The Awards are run by The Society of London Theatre but are adjudicated by panels that are equally made up of members of the theatregoing public and experts chosen for their knowledge and professional experience. The National Tour of the hit musical WICKED will welcome two new cast members on March 10th. Natalie Daradich will join the cast as Glinda and Chris Peluso will take over the role of Fiyero when the tour reaches its stop in Richmond, Virgina at the Landmark Theatre.

The Victoria Theatre Association will offer Chase Background on Broadway: WICKED at the Schuster Center DP&L Stage on March 6 at 1 PM.

My mom is residing in an assisted living facility in the Northeast. To this day she often reminds me of a time seemingly implanted on her forever. Her father took her to a movie. He took her to see THE WIZARD OF OZ starring Judy Garland when Mom was nine years old. While sitting in the theater he told her to 'watch, watch now' as Dorothy opened the door to her house, and revealed the Land of Oz A land of colors, at which point the film turned from black and white to color. Mom often wears a ruby slippers pin and has spread her special connection with the film to many, even to folks outside the family. WICKED, of course, has some connections to the MGM film. However, it is based on a novel which dared to actually put a twist on many events portrayed in the classic film.

After breaking box office records in 2009, WICKED, the smash-hit musical, will return to Louisville's Kentucky Center, May 5-23 as a PNC Broadway Across America Special Presentation.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced its 2010-2011 theater programming. The season will feature: a Center-produced revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies; ON THE FRINGE: Eye on Edinburgh featuring new work by artists emerging from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe; 11 and 12, directed by Peter Brook; Chekhov International Theatre Festival's Three Sisters and Twelfth Night; DRUID's The Cripple of Inishmaan; and Penumbra Theatre Company's new production I Wish You Love, as part of the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays. Barbara Cook's Spotlight will bring six theater cabaret performers in its fourth season, and audiences will delight in touring productions of Hair, Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, Wicked, and Next to Normal.
