The winners of the 2009 Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards and the recipients of the Guild's 2010 Career Achievement Awards were announced last night during the 62nd Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Kathryn Bigelow won the DGA's Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for The Hurt Locker.
Following the welcome by DGA President Taylor Hackford to an audience of more than 1,600 guests, director/actor Carl Reiner hosted the ceremony.
Rialto Chatter: Steve Martin's 'Leap of Faith' Boadway-Bound by Ashford?

Michael Riedel reveals this morning that a likely Broadway-bound musical adaptation of Leap of Faith (based off of the 1992 film starring Steve Martin) had an industry reading last week starring Raul Esparza as the preacher, Sutton Foster, and Kendra Kassebaum. The musical workshop, featuring a score by Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermain composer Alan Menken and lryics by Glenn Slater, had Promises, Promises director/choreographer Rob Ashford at the helm. Janus Cercone, who authored the original screenplay also penned the musical book.

Casting has been announced for the new Broadway musical COME FLY AWAY, conceived, choreographed, and directed by Tony Award-winner Twyla Tharp and featuring vocals by Frank Sinatra. COME FLY AWAY will star Matthew Dibble, Holley Farmer, Laura Mead, Charlie Neshyba-Hodges, Rika Okamoto, Karine Plantadit, Keith Roberts and John Selya, all of whom were in last fall's acclaimed world premiere production at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre.

The new Broadway musical, COME FLY AWAY, conceived, choreographed, and directed by Tony Award-winner Twyla Tharp and featuring vocals by Frank Sinatra, will open this spring at the Marquis Theatre (1535 Broadway). Previews will begin on Monday, March 1, 2010 with an opening night slated for Thursday, March 25. COME FLY AWAY played its sold-out, critically lauded world premiere engagement at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre this fall.

Emmy Award Winner Leslie Jordan returns to the live stage with another theatrical segment from his mindset, 'Full of Gin and Regret: An Evening with Leslie Jordan,' at the Renberg Theater at LA Gay & Lesbian Center in Los Angeles. The performance will feature special guest singer/actress Alexandra Billings and will run for two weekends only, December 10-13 and 17-20.

After being honored with five Ovation Award nominations last week - including Best Musical for the second year in a row, Louis & Keely: Live at the Sahara is closing out its run on Sunday, November 8. The production has been playing in the Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater at the Geffen Playhouse since March. While these final weeks mark Angeleno's final chance to see th production, the team behind the musical is in the process of planning the show's future.

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) have announced that acclaimed actor and playwright Eric Bogosian (Talk Radio, 'Law & Order: CI') has joined the cast of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway production of Donald Margulies' TIME STANDS STILL directed by Daniel Sullivan.
