My Name is Asher Lev, adapted by Aaron Posner from the novel by Chaim Potok, follows the journey of a young painter torn between his Hassidic upbringing and his desperate need to fulfill his artistic promise. When his artistic genius threatens to destroy his relationship with his parents and community, young Asher realizes he must make a difficult choice between art and faith. Aaron Posner's stirring adaptation of a modern classic presented by Palisades Players SummerStage and a professional cast, made up entirely of Actors Equity members, present a heartbreaking and triumphant vision of what it means to be an artist in a world dominated by faith and tradition.

Fighting Chance Productions to Present FACING EAST, 4/23-5/14

FACING EAST, based on a play by CAROL LYNN PEARSON follows an upstanding Mormon couple faced with the suicide of their gay son. When they unexpectedly meet their son's partner they must face a reality long ignored, and reconcile feelings with beliefs. After workshops in Chicago and Dallas the show had a developmental charity concert at the Lyric Theatre in London, England starring several West End artists, directed by Ryan Mooney. This world premiere is the first time the show will receive a full production, with a Canadian cast and production team, and is the 40th production for FIGHTING CHANCE PRODUCTIONS.

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, has announced that due to a scheduling conflict Nathan Gardner will replace the previously announced Jason Gotay in the principal role of Carlo Gesualdo for the premiere of Death for Five Voices from March 24 - April 17, at The Sheen Center, 18 Bleecker Street, NYC.
