The Santa Barbara Symphony’s 70th Anniversary season performs its penultimate program titled Platinum Sounds: The Santa Barbara Symphony Turns 70 on Saturday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 14 at 3:00 p.m., preceded by a pre-concert “Conversations with Kabaretti” at 2:00 pm on Sunday. 

Pittance Chamber Music, which presents the extraordinary musicians who perform in the pit at the Los Angeles Opera, presents Modern Beauty with special guest GRAMMY and EMMY-winning pianist Gloria Cheng.

The Santa Barbara Symphony has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors. Donald Foster, Principal Clarinet of the Santa Barbara Symphony and Chair of the Orchestra Committee, and Santa Barbara patrons of the performing arts and seasoned business executives Sam Hedgpeth and Dylan Minor.

Pittance Chamber Music presents Modern Beauty, inviting you to experience the beauty of modern music via the artistry of GRAMMY and EMMY-winning pianist Gloria Cheng, one of today's most respected and revered interpreters of contemporary repertoire. Cheng has been lauded in the Washington Post, New York Times and LA Weekly for her 'breathtaking', 'exhilarating' and 'broadly expressive' performances. For this Pittance Chamber Music concert, Cheng teams up with members of the LA Opera Orchestra: Jennifer Cullinan, Oboe; Donald Foster, Clarinet, and Judith Farmer, Bassoon, for a transcendent evening of favorite chamber music pieces by composers with whom she has collaborated a?" including Billy Childs, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Steven Stucky, Fang Man, Kay Rhie and Gernot Wolfgang. Modern Beauty takes place on Sunday, April 5, 7:30 p.m. at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music.

The Santa Barbara Symphony, under the baton of Maestro Nir Kabaretti, will present the West Coast premiere of acclaimed composer Jonathan Leshnoff's Clarinet Concerto - a work co-commissioned by the renowned Philadelphia Orchestra - at the Granada Theatre on Saturday, February 11. Featuring Santa Barbara Symphony Principal Clarinetist Donald Foster, the performance will take place at 8 pm, followed by an encore concert at 3 pm on Sunday, February 12. Tickets are now available.

Pasadena Symphony and POPS Board Chair Kay Kochenderfer Toomey and Chief Executive Officer Lora Unger are proud to announce a contract extension for Michael Feinstein through the 2019 season. His original contract as Principal Pops Conductor commenced in June 2013 for a one-year term and was immediately extended in July 2013 to run through the 2016 season after his critically acclaimed conducting debut with the Pasadena POPS.
