One of the biggest events of the theatre season went down last night, as MCC presented their annual gala, Miscast. At the event, a slew of Broadway's hottest stars get to perform songs from roles in which they would never be cast, and in this edition, Laura Benanti and Christopher Fitzgerald gave THE SOUND OF MUSIC their own, irreverent twist that you just have to see to believe. Miscast 2015 honored two bold and fearless women: Emmy® & Golden Globe® nominated stage and screen actress Sarah Paulson and Tony® Award-winning producer Fran Weissler. On Monday, May 4, 2015, The New York Pops marks its 32nd birthday with a grand gala evening celebrating the work of Music Honorees Kathleen Marshall and Rob Marshall and Corporate Honoree Carrie and Ted Pryor, Greenwich Harbor Partners. Serving as Honorary Co-Chairs for the event are stars Matthew Broderick, Renee Fleming, Kelli O'Hara, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Based on the 1994 Albert Finney film, the musical A Man of No Importance played at New York's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, Lincoln Center in 2002, then earned 2003's Outer Circle Critics Award for authors Lynn Ahrens (Lyrics), Stephen Flaherty (music), and Terrance McNally (Book.) This past Sunday (for two performances), 54 Below staged a concert version of A Man of No Importance as part of their popular 54 Below Sings . . . series.

Tony Award-winning writing team Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty and Tony Award winner Terrence McNally's musical A Man Of No Importance comes to 54 Below on March 15, for an all-star concert presentation. The show played off-Broadway at Lincoln Center in 2002, winning the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical. Since then it has become a beloved piece done by theaters all over the world. The score of A Man Of No Importance, including songs such as "Princess," "The Streets of Dublin," and "Love Who You Love," is treasured by musical theatre fans.

Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestra's begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven- o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. According to a recent post by the A.R.T. the show already has plans for Broadway! The theatre auctioned off tickets to the show's opening night on Broadway as a part of its 2015 gala, teasing: 'See it in Cambridge before it heads to NYC!' Casting has not yet been announced, but a recent NYC workshop was led by Tony winner Jessie Mueller, Keala Settle, Bryce Pinkham, Christopher Fitzgerald, Barrett Wilbert Weed, and Eric Anderson.

MCC THEATER has announce dthat actor and "Daily Show" regular Aasif Mandvi will serve as emcee for this year's Miscast 2015 Gala, to be held Monday, March 30, 2015 at The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center (311 West 34th Street). In addition, two performers have been added to the lineup: Ben Platt of "Pitch Perfect" and recently of Broadway's The Book of Mormon; and Leslie Odom Jr. of NBC's "Smash" and currently starring in The Public's smash hit Hamilton as Aaron Burr.
