Ars Nova is committed to the development of emerging diverse talent, and will aid NBCU in identifying and meeting with diverse talent, including writers and performers, who develop artistic material at the theater.

The play is written by Patricia Cornelius and stars Bronwen Coleman, Erin Maya Darke, and Ken Matthews. It is directed by Mark Armstrong. The show is a limited engagement and runs from March 20 - April 12, 2009. Opening night is Friday, March 20 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are on sale at theatermania.com.

A young girl asks her father, where do plastic surgeons come from? What follows is a fantastical romp through pre-civilized Europe, via the medieval art and science of nosemaking. Our hero is Gavin, a young orphan rescued from a dismal existence in the Ivanhoe Workhouse for Criminally Impoverished Boys when he is apprenticed with the local Nosemaker, eventually to become one of the finest surgeons in Vienna, cradle of quack medicine.

New York's premier play festival, the Summer Play Festival (SPF), is partnering with London's Donmar Warehouse for the fifth year in a row to create an international playwriting program for emerging writers. The Donmar Warehouse / SPF Residency Program brings together professional theatre makers from the highly acclaimed Donmar to work with selected SPF playwrights in a focused collaboration of classroom experiments, workshops, and rehearsals, culminating in a full reading of their play. The writers will spend up to three weeks in London becoming immersed in the local theatre scene, and exchanging ideas and techniques with professional artists. The Donmar staff will guide and support the writers throughout their time in London, offering them a unique insight into the dynamics and complexities of the British theatre industry.
