ATLANTA- On Monday, November 5th, the Atlanta theatre community will celebrate the 8th Annual Suzi Bass Awards. The awards recognize the best of Atlanta's professional theatre scene, and Broadway World Atlanta will be updating the results live throughout the evening. A Christmas Carol, Alliance Theatre's annual holiday gift to Atlanta, returns November 23, 2012 for its 23rd production.

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. announced nominations for the 2011-2012 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to an enthusiastic crowd of patrons and theatre industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. The spacious lobby allowed guests to enjoy drinks, hors d'ouevres and the chance to congratulate their colleagues. Guest announcers, Atlanta's own funny men Bryan Brendle, Bart Hansard, Tony Larkin, Aurora Theatre artistic director Tony Rodriguez and Scott Warren shared the list of nominees while playfully riffing on the 2011/2012 Atlanta theatre season.

Nearly 10 years of work culminated when Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale made its premiere in suburban Atlanta to a sold-out audience at Aurora Theatre on March 15, 2012. Aurora Theatre has extended the show for one additional week through April, 15 2012, and then the hit musical must close.

After years of development, Clyde 'n Bonnie: A Folktale premiered in suburban Atlanta at Aurora Theatre yesterday, March 15. Aurora Theatre first encountered the show in 2009 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the annual showcase of potential Broadway hits, like the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal. Clyde ‘n Bonnie is the musical brainchild of Broadway stars Hunter Foster and Rick Crom.

Theatre in the Square will open its 30th season with On Golden Pond, August 10 - September 11, 2011 on the Main Stage. On Golden Pond was the first production the theatre produced, in September 1982, in the space that is now Cool Beans Coffee. Brenda Bynum will star as matriarch Violet Weston in Alliance Theatre's production of Tracy Letts'August: Osage County, the Pulitzer Prize winning play. The production will be presented April 13-May 8, with an opening date set for April 20. Susan V. Booth will direct.
