The Dance in Film nominations for the 2017 Chita Rivera Awards were announced today at a reception at The Lambs Club. In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered films that opened during the 2016-2017 theater season.

Now in our 15th year, the Theater Fans' Choice Awards are, by FAR, the largest fan based awards of their kind. Open to anyone to vote, we're excited to present a full slate of eligible nominees in categories that both mirror the popular critical awards, as well as fan favorite categories for Best Tour, Ensemble and Off Broadway shows. Plus, cast your vote in our newest category, honoring stage to screen adaptations!

ABC's reboot of the 1980's classic film DIRTY DANCING did not deliver a strong rating's performance Wednesday night, coming well below the Season Finale of CBS's SURVIVOR.

#EduHam is a series of HAMILTON Wednesday matinees made available to New York City schools with a high concentration of students from low-income families for the ticket price of only $10. This educational partnership, made possible through a $1.46 million grant by The Rockefeller Foundation, is not only providing 20,000 NYC public school students with the opportunity to see HAMILTON on Broadway, but provides educational material by Gilder Lehrman to incorporate material from the musical into the American History curriculum.

Quinton Johnson, headline the stellar cast in a new adaptation of the global pop-cultural phenomenon, DIRTY DANCING, premiering WEDNESDAY, MAY 24

The producers of Bandstand have launched 'Band Together-The Broadway Veteran Project,' a sponsorship program allowing United States military veterans access to sponsored tickets to the brand new musical directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner and 2017 Tony Award nominee Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) with music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker.

Award-winning dancer, choreographer, and director, Andy Blankenbuehler, has worked on some of the most groundbreaking musicals of all time, including Hamilton and In the Heights, and has used movement to connect to the complex and beautiful truth of the human condition. His current project, choreographing the long-anticipated ABC revival of one of the most classic movies of all-time, Dirty Dancing, has allowed Blankenbuehler to keep flexing his artistic muscles, and enter into a world of increased depth and discovery with its cherished characters. Since the original first debuted, Blankenbuehler was moved by its powerful themes of strength, liberation, love, and allowing the art of dance to serve as a powerful voice.

Hamilton was in da house! Just last week, Hamilton stars Javier Munoz,  Brandon Victor Dixon, James Monroe Iglehart, Mandy Gonzalez, and Bryan Terrell Clark joined SAG-AFTRA Foundation and BroadwayWorld for a filmed Conversations Q&A series to recognize and celebrate the vibrant theatre community in New York City and the actors who aspire to have a career on the stage and screen.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim announces the World Premiere of Works & Process Rotunda Project: Daniil Simkin Falls the Shadow with choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo on September 4 & 5, 2017 at 8pm and 9:30pm.

Spearheaded by American Ballet Theatre principal Daniil Simkin, with new choreography by Alejandro Cerrudo, and projection design by  Dmitrij Simkin, Falls the Shadow is a new 30-minute work made in and for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum rotunda.

Broadway shows are made, not born. Though the polished final product of a Broadway show seems to land before our very eyes as if put there by some divine circumstance, the life of the average show before it makes its way to New York is long.

Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of In the Heights on Friday June 23, 2017 at the November Theatre/Arenstein Stage, 114 West Broad Street. The show will run through July 30, 2017. Previews will run for two nights on Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22, 2017.
