Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad will join Event Chair and Arena Stage Board member Shawna Watley (Senior Policy Advisor with Holland & Knight) as the Honorary Chair for The Blood Quilt World Premiere Celebration tonight, May 7, 2015. The new play by Katori Hall (The Mountaintop, Our Lady of Kibeho) is directed by Kamilah Forbes and runs now through June 7, 2015 in the Kreeger Theater.

Aurora Theatre Company closes its 23rd season with the Bay Area Premiere of Lisa D'Amour's (Anna Bella Eema, Airline Highway) wicked Obie-winning satire about our uncertain economic times, DETROIT. Josh Costello (Wittenberg) directs this explosive dark comedy, featuring Amy Resnick (Body Awareness, Collapse), Jeff Garrett, Luisa Frasconi, and Patrick Kelly Jones (Metamorphosis), that brilliantly captures our current economic moment. Richard Greenberg's Pulitzer Prize-nominated play, Three Days of Rain, opens on Portland Center Stage's U.S. Bank Main Stage on May 22, with preview performances beginning May 17, 2015.

Quintet of the Americas will present In Pursuit of Freedom, a special Mother's Day program honoring Maya Angelou on Sunday, May 10 - 3:30 PM at St. Marks Church-in-the-Bowery, 131 E. 10th Street in New York, NY. The program will feature music and poetry for and by Maya Angelou and others related to the African-American experience and the In Pursuit of Freedom exhibition at Brooklyn Historical Society.

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the West Coast premiere of an exciting new American play, Rich Girl, by acclaimed playwright Victoria Stewart, continuing the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. Rich Girl will be directed by James Vasquez (Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show), and will play May 23 - June 21, 2015, in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.

The 22nd Annual Merritt Awards for Excellence in Design and Collaboration will take place on Monday, May 4th, at Loyola University Chicago.

Palm Beach Dramaworks concludes its fifteenth anniversary season with Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, a moving and surprisingly joyous look back at the too-short, turbulent life of the legendary Billie Holiday. Lady Day opens at  the Don & Ann Brown Theatre on May 15 and continues through June 7, with specially priced previews on May 13 and 14.

Kansas City Repertory Theatre continues its 50th anniversary season with Sticky Traps, a powerful new play by KC Rep's Playwright in Residence, Nathan Louis Jackson, Directed by Resident Director, Kyle Hatley. Sticky Traps focuses on a small town not far from Kansas City, where a mother protects her gay son's honor when his funeral is protested by a local church. Her actions have unintended consequences that will test her whole family - and the power of their love -- in the face of hate. The production begins tonight, April 24th and runs through Sunday, May 24th at Copaken Stage in downtown Kansas City.

Katherine Owens, Artistic Director of Undermain Theatre has released the season line-up for 2015-16 saying,  "We are now in our in 32nd year of exploring new writing and revisiting seminal modern works at the Undermain Theatre. Next season we will present a powerful season of premieres, monumental drama, and cutting edge performance with four mainstage productions, each a portrait of a family, bound by blood or by circumstance, confronting the forces of darkness. Two world-premieres bookend a regional premiere of one of the contemporary stage's leading theatrical voices and a masterwork of modern drama by a man some call the father of the American Theater."

James, Joseph Keckler, Chris Sarandon, and Or Matias, on piano, begin rehearsals today for the LCT3/Lincoln Center Theater production of PRELUDES, a new musical by Dave Malloy, inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninov, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) just announced the fourth annual Roundabout Underground Reading Series, a five-night event that includes nightly readings of new plays written and directed by emerging artists, curtain speeches by Roundabout Underground artist alumni and post-show receptions.

Broadway star Caissie Levy will headline the entertainment portion of the Alliance Theatre's 7th annual A Tony Evening. The Canadian-born actress and singer recently completed a year-long run starring as Fantine in the lauded Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Levy is best known to Broadway and West End audiences for originating the roles of Molly in Ghost The Musical, and Shelia in the Tony Award-winning revival of Hair.
