The original 1966 version of Cabaret, the groundbreaking musical by John Kander, Fred Ebb, and Joe Masteroff, offered a stark and satirical look at pre-war Germany through the lens of the Kit Kat Klub, a seedy Berlin cabaret. The original Cabaret was a critical and commercial success. It won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and launched the careers of stars like Jill Haworth (Sally Bowles) and Joel Grey (the Emcee).
