Syracuse Stage Producing Peter Pan in 2015/16 Season

Youth Auditions to be Held on March 27 & 28 for Two Roles

“All children grow up, except one.” So begins a magical adventure that has been delighting children (and grown-ups) for more than 100 years. Journey to Neverland with Peter Pan, Wendy, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, Tiger Lily, and all of J. M. Barrie’s memorable characters in the high-flying musical adaptation of Peter Pan, running November 28, 2015 through January 3, 2016 as part of Syracuse Stage’s upcoming 2015/16 Season.

Youth Auditions will be held on March 27 and 28 for two Peter Pan roles: Michael, 8-10 years old, and John, 10-13 years old. Local youth of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. The roles will require some theatrical flying, which will be coordinated by a professional flying effects company. Children wishing to audition should prepare a 1 minute monologue or poem, and up to 16 bars of music sung a cappella or accompanied on piano (please bring sheet music for the piano accompanist.) With such songs as I'm Flying”, “I Won't Grow Up”, and Never Never Land,” Peter Pan is a beloved musical that has delighted audiences around the world.

“I am so excited to see this fantastical production take flight next holiday season,” said Timothy Bond, Producing Artistic Director at Syracuse Stage. “We look forward to connecting with many families, through performances and through our audition process. We have had some amazing young people in our productions of A Christmas Carol, The Miracle Worker, A Christmas Story, Caroline, or Change, and many more throughout our 42 seasons of producing world-class professional theatre in Central New York.”

Helming the Syracuse Stage production of Peter Pan is director Paul Barnes, who previously directed the Syracuse Stage productions of White Christmas and The Miracle Worker. The musical director is Brian Cimmet (Hairspray), and the choreographer is Anthony Salatino (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobeand Little Women, among others.)

Peter Pan will be co-produced with the Department of Drama in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. In addition to featuring local children, the 28-member cast will be comprised of students from Syracuse University’s Department of Drama, and professional actors from around the country.

Tickets for Peter Pan will be available first to Season Ticket Holders. Current Season Ticket Holders will have the opportunity to renew their seats when the entire 2015/16 Season is announced in the coming weeks.
