PREPARATION:
Bring a headshot and resume. Prepare 2 sides of your choice from the sides provided below.

CONTRACT:
CAT Tier II – 314.00 Per week Minimum (EMC points available)

SEEKING:
2 F, 2 M, Understudies for all parts

TANIA DEL VALLE – (LatinX) early thirties; American born, smart, likable, positive, passionate, highly-energized, pregnant Ph.D. candidate and gardener. cusses like a champ in Spanish but not fluent.

PABLO DEL VALLE – (LatinX) early thirties; Chilean, perhaps a slight accent. smart, likable, ambitious, savvy young attorney.

VIRGINIA BUTLEY – (CAST) sixty to mid-seventies; smart; likable, assertive, direct, no-nonsense engineer (SEEKING UNDERSTUDY)

FRANK BUTLEY – sixty to mid-seventies; (CAST) Looking for understudy only

2 to 4 EXTRAS: (understudies for all roles) also play surveyors, landscapers, and building examiner, silent roles in vignettes between scenes that transform the garden. “They are the witnesses and the energetic transformers of both the play and the situation.”

SUMMARY:
Pablo, a high-powered lawyer, and his very pregnant doctoral candidate wife, Tania, are realizing the American dream when they purchase a house next door to community stalwarts Virginia and Frank. But a disagreement over a long-standing fence line soon spirals into an all-out war of taste, class, privilege, and entitlement. The hilarious results guarantee no one comes out smelling like a
rose.
