Good People is a fast paced, hard-hitting story set in the suburbs of south Boston, where each paycheck barely covers the bills. Our protagonist Margie Walsh has to fight to make ends meet and support her daughter. After losing her job and facing eviction, Margie thinks an old boyfriend who's made it out of Southie might be her chance at a new life. With time running short, Margie is about to risk everything she has for one last shot at a fresh start. With humor and a keen eye for revealing both the “good” and the “bad” in all of us, Lindsay-Abaire explores what it means to live and fight to survive in modern America.

Characters:
Margaret “Margie” - Female, 40-50+
Protagonist. Single mother struggling to support an adult daughter with cognitive disability. Rough around the edges and passing judgment on everyone in her world. A proud Boston “southie”.

Stevie- Male, 25-30+
Manager of the Dollar Store. Also a native “southie”. Is a caring, compassionate man who is forced to fire Margie.

Dottie- Female, 60+
Margie’s landlord and friend. Helps watch Margie’s daughter so Margie can go to work. Often late and not terribly dependable, Dottie spends nights making crafts. She has a caring side.

Jean- Female, 40-50+
Margie’s longtime friend. They have known each other since high school. Jean encourages Margie’s reunion with Mike. Biting sense of humor, and a little rough around the edges.

Mike- Male, 40-50+
Made his way out of “southie” - now a wealthy fertility doctor married to Kate. They have a young daughter and Mike is hesitant to confront anything from his past with his wife.

Kate- black female, 30-35
Refined, well-educated, the antithesis of Margie. Aware of social standards and enjoys hosting parties. She offers help to Margie, but it is revealed that she does so while simultaneously passing judgement. Not from Boston.
