ADMISSIONS - The Hampton Theatre Company

The Hampton Theatre Company will be holding AUDITIONS for two roles (1 male, 1 female) in “Admissions” by Joshua Harmon, opening January 16, 2020 and running through February 2, 2020 in Quogue. Andrew Botsford directs.

Rehearsals will begin December 12.

Admissions follows the family of Sherri Rosen-Mason, the Head of the Admissions Department for a New England prep school aspiring to be prestigious.

Together with her husband Bill, the school's headmaster, the liberal white duo have successfully rebranded their “monochromatic” school into a diverse institution fit for the 21st century.

Sherri’s drive to diversify the student body at the school is made clear by her interactions with an administrator in the school’s development office, Roberta.

When the couple’s only son, Charlie, a senior at the school, gets turned down by an Ivy League college, he assumes it’s because he doesn't tick the diversity box, which sparks a conflict of interest for the family and friction between Sherri and her friend Ginnie Peters, whose mixed-race son (never seen on stage) has been accepted by Yale.

The hypocrisies and contradictions of liberal white America take center stage in this satirical, thought-provoking play, yielding both plenty of laughter and an unflinching examination of contemporary values.

The roles of Sherri Rosen-Mason, Charlie Mason, and Roberta have been cast.

Available roles are:

Bill Mason: early 50s, very liberal WASP, Sherri’s husband and Head of the School at Hillcrest.

Ginnie Peters: late 40s-50s, very liberal stay-at-home mom; her son is Charlie’s best friend.

Auditions will be from the script. If you cannot attend auditions on November 18, contact
Andrew.artsed@gmail.com and an alternative time may be arranged, if possible.
