Eliza Doolittle:
(20s-30s) A cockney flower girl from Lisson Grove, Eliza works outside Covent Garden. Her potential to become “a lady” becomes the object of a bet between Higgins and Pickering. Must have excellent dialects (RP and Cockney) and strong soprano.

Henry Higgins:
(40-50) A British, upper class professional bachelor, Higgins is a world-famous phonetics expert, teacher, and author of “Higgins’ Universal Alphabet.” Must have excellent RP dialect.

Colonel Pickering:
A retired British officer with colonial experience, Pickering is the author of “Spoken Sanskrit.” (RP dialect)

Alfred P. Doolittle/AS CAST:
50-60s. Eliza’s father, Doolittle is an elderly but vigorous dustman. (Cockney Dialect)

Freddy Eynsford-Hill/AS CAST:
20s-mid 30’s. An upper class young man, Freddy becomes completely smitten with Eliza. (RP Dialect)

The play takes place in Atlanta in 1939 within a German Jewish enclave.

Seeking:

Adolph Freitag
Male. Late 40’s/early 50’s. A successful businessman and nominal patriarch of the family. Easy-going, warm, avuncular, with innate kindness. Knows that life is too serious to be taken too seriously. Dotes on his niece, Sunny.

Boo Levy
Female. Early-mid 50s. Adolph’s sister, a widow and the alpha of the family, Boo has a an intensity and tendency to judge. Knows how to land a barb as only a southern woman can. Has a dreamer for a daughter and above all else, wants to see her married and secure.

Reba Freitag
Female. Late 40’s/early 50’s. Adolph’s sister-in-law. Gentle, dear, a bit ditzy, with a big heart. Somewhat amazed to have such a smart and sensible daughter.

Lala Levy
Female. Mid to late 20’s. Boo’s daughter. Has dreams of being a writer, and is a somewhat fragile romantic. Not always realistic in terms of how the world works. Loves Gone With the Wind.

Sunny Freitag
Female. In her 20’s. Reba’s daughter, she attends a prestigious college for women. Has a strong sense of self and is intelligent and decent. Has grown up in privilege but wears it well.

Joe Farkas
Male. Late 20’s/early 30’s. Adolph’s business assistant, Joe has a New York energy and charisma. He takes his Jewishness for granted and is completely unself-conscious about it. Intelligent, with a strong sense of right and wrong.

Peachy Weil
Male. Mid/late 20’s. From a distinguished, wealthy family in Lake Charles, Lousiana, Peachy is incorrigible and quick to make less than proper jokes for shock effect. Although it is hard to tell initially, his intentions regarding Lala are honorable.
