LEND ME A TENOR by Ken Ludwig. Dir: Scott Wichmann. 1st reh: 8/15/11. Runs: 9/9-10/6.

Max:

20s - mid 30s. Assistant to Saunders. Aspiring singer; his worst enemy is his lack of self-confidence. Spends his time as a doormat to his future father-in-law and trying to convince Maggie that he is marriage material.

Maggie:

20s-30s. Max's girlfriend. Pretty, quirky. Doesn’t want to settle for the seemingly mundane life she has with Max. Longs for an adventurous fling, one which will allow her to “hear bells”.

Saunders:

Mid 50s. Maggie's father, and general manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Authoritarian. Uptight, with a short fuse … most of which he takes out on Max.

Tito:

Italian, 30s-40s. World-famous tenor, known to his fans as “Il Stupendo”. Imposing. Womanizing; loves Maria, but has difficulty resisting the advances of the opposite sex (who seem to advance frequently and with considerable momentum).

Maria:

Italian, 30s. Tito’s wife. Sophia Loren-type: busty, proud and excitable. Passionate; temperamental. Growing weary of her husband’s wandering eye (and body) for the opposite sex.

Bellhop:

Any age. Highly energetic fan of Tito. Uses his occupation to get close to the international star.

Diana:

Mid 30s. Soprano with the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. Beautiful, sexy. Has been “flinging her way through the whole cast”. Playing Desdemona opposite Tito, she thinks that he might be her ticket out of Cleveland into the big time.

Julia:

60s. Chair of the Opera Guild. Over-the-hill ex-diva for whom the Cleveland Grand Opera Company is the center of her small, pretentious world.

MY FAIR LADY Music: Frederick Loewe. Book/Lyrics: Alan Jay Lerner. Dir: Bruce Miller. 1st reh: October, 2011. Runs: 11/18/11 – 1/11/12.

Professor Zoltan Karpathy:

Hungarian. Bearded. Former Phonetics student of Henry Higgins.

Mrs. Pearce:

Higgins’s housekeeper.

Mrs. Eynsford-Hill:

Freddy’s mother, a friend of Mrs. Higgins.

Ensemble.

Eliza Doolittle:

CAST. Cockney flower girl from Lisson Grove, working outside Covent Garden. Her potential to become “a lady” becomes the object of a bet between Higgins and Pickering.

Professor Henry Higgins:

CAST. British. Upper-class professional bachelor. World famous Phonetics expert, teacher and author.

Alfred P. Doolittle:

CAST. Eliza’s father.

Col. Pickering:

CAST. British. Retired officer with colonial experience. Author of “Spoken Sanskrit”.

Freddy Eynsford-Hill:

CAST. Upper-class young man who becomes completely smitten with Eliza.

Mrs. Higgins:

CAST. Henry’s long-suffering mother.
