Equity Principal Auditions by APPOINTMENT:
Tuesday, October 16, 2012 Blackfriars Playhouse

10 AM – 5 PM 10 South Market Street

No scheduled break. Staunton, VA

Theatre will hold other audition sessions (TBA) that are open to Equity and non-Equity actors alike. This October 16th session is for Equity Members only.

Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back. Please prepare EITHER a brief Shakespeare monologue OR 32 bars of a 1950s/60s pop/rock song and a 1-minute Shakespeare monologue. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided, but may not transpose.

Callbacks are planned for 11/2-11/4.

The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) casts troupes of ensemble actors (M/F). All actors will be cast in each of the plays in each season of rotating repertory, and each actor will play a variety of roles, large and small. All actors must have strong classical training and experience. Musical ability is a plus.

The ASC is looking for the following general types (exact doubling will be determined when each acting troupe is cast). All plays below are by Shakespeare unless otherwise noted.

2013 Summer/Fall Seasons (7-month contract):

1st reh: 5/6/13. Runs 6/11 - 12/1/13. Director (all shows other than ALL’S WELL): Jim Warren.

ROMEO AND JULIET.
RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET by Bob Carlton (musical).
ALL’S WELL THAT ENDS WELL. Dir: Ralph Alan Cohen.
TROILUS AND CRESSIDA.
SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER by Oliver Goldsmith.

Younger Leading Men:

Could play Romeo, Mercutio, Troilus, Bertram, Marlow, Hastings, Cookie.


Younger Leading Women:

Could play Juliet, Cressida, Helena, Diana, Kate, Constance, Miranda.


Leading Men:

Could play Capulet, Captain Tempest, King of France, Agamemnon, Achilles, Aeneas, Hardcastle.

Leading Women:

Could play Lady Capulet, Countess of Rossillion, Science Officer, Mrs Hardcastle.


Character Actors:

Could play Nurse, Parolles, Lafew, Lavatch, Ariel, Pandarus, Lumpkin.

2014 Actors’ Renaissance Season (3-month contract. No directors will be used.):

1st reh: 12/31/13. Runs 1/3 - 4/6/14.

Younger Leading Women:

Could play Rosalind, Celia, Clarice, Beatrice, Evadne.

Leading Men:

Could play Timon, Oliver, Melantius, King of Rhodes, Florindo, Truewit, Clerimont, Otter.

Leading Women:

Could play Phebe, Brighella, Beatrice, Smeraldina, Aspatia, Madam Haughty, Mistress Otter.

Character Actors:

Could play Touchstone, Jaques, Adam, Morose, La Foole, Apemantus, Truffaldino.
