What happens when a heartbreaking, hilarious Broadway musical is ever-so-lovingly hijacked by one of its fans and set loose amid her own humiliating accounts of sexual discovery? If you're really lucky what happens is Deleted Scenes From Fun Home, an intimate comedy hour by Erin Markey - touted as a "fantastically weird" Top Ten Downtown Cabaret Artist in Time Out New York - who returns to the Duplex with this show of original and borrowed songs inspired by her obsession with the beloved Broadway musical.

As Markey tells it, every day after Fun Home rehearsals at the Public Theater, she would steal into the show's studio using her long, beautiful hair to disguise herself as not-a-lesbian. She gathered the pages that had been tossed carelessly to the stage floor, rejected from the musical's final edit, and upon reading them realized that the show's creators had originally intended to include scenes spookily familiar to Markey --thinly veiled, laugh-out-loud interpretations of her own childhood struggles, including the humiliatingly X-rated stand-up routines performed by her Aunt Jan. These "lost scenes" were so compelling, Markey concluded that their omission must have been a mistake on Lisa Kron's part. And being the consummate artist she is ("Good artists copy, great artists steal" - Pablo Picasso) Markey decided to capitalize on the oversight and assemble the material into its own never-before-seen evening of unclassifiable, unforgettable hilarity.
