Arizona Opera kicks off 2015 with one of the greatest dramas in the operatic repertoire,Eugene Onegin. From Pushkin's classic poem comes Tchaikovsky's theatrical masterpiece which follows the story of Onegin - a man egotistical enough to turn his back on love and a gun on his best friend.

Set in St. Petersburg and the snowy Russian countryside, this new production features the role debut of baritone David Adam Moore. Moore is causing a stir on opera stages across the globe, with Seattle Post Intelligencer praising "his enviable swagger coupled with a subtle musicality and big, handsome voice." Soprano Corinne Winters returns to Arizona Opera to portray the role of Tatiana, with acclaimed tenor Zach Borichevsky as Lenski. Baritone Chris Carr will perform the role of Onegin for the Saturday February 7 performance. Eugene Oneginwill be directed by Tara Faircloth and conducted by Steven White. Sung in Russian with English supertitles.

Performances are tonight, January 31 at 7:30 pm and February 1 at 2:00 pm in Tucson Music Hall (Tucson) and February 6 and 7 at 7:30 and February 8 at 2:00 pm in Symphony Hall (Phoenix).

Tickets for Eugene Onegin start at $25 and are available at www.azopera.org or by calling 602.266.7464 (Phoenix) or 520.293.4336 (Tucson). Tickets are also on sale at the Arizona Opera Center Box Office at 1636 N. Central Ave, Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm.

Arizona Opera will host a month-long Russian Cultural Festival, with free lectures, films and dance events, allowing the community to immerse itself in Russian history and culture in anticipation of Eugene Onegin. See detailed schedule of these events below.
