Ballet in Cinema from Emerging Pictures kicks off its Fall-Winter 2013 season of Bolshoi Ballet LIVE HD performances today, October 20, with "Spartacus," a rare gem in the Bolshoi repertoire choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich to a score by Aram Khachaturian.

The performance stars Mikhail Lobukhin in the title role; Anna Nikulina as Phrygia, wife of the slave rebellion's leader; Vladislav Lantratov as Crassus, the Roman general charged with quelling the rebellion; and international ballet phenomenon Svetlana Zakharova as Aegina the scheming lover of Crassus.In New York the performance will be presented live from the Bolshoi Theatre's Moscow stage at 11 a.m. (Eastern) at BIG Manhattan Cinemas, 239 East 59th Street. The running time is 215 minutes, including a behind-the-scenes pre-show and two intermissions.
