Nicole Parker Performs at Birdland, 2/7

Birdland Jazz Club's recently announced February schedule. In the line-up includes Billy Stritch, Sam Harris, Natalie Weiss, Nicole Parker and more.

February 7th: Nicole Parker- Jillane Jenkins (played by Nicole Parker) has charmed audiences as the irrepressible Callie Carter in the 1970's sitcom classic, "She's Got a Job!" Now, with her one-woman show, Suitcase Full of Lies, she will wins pity through song and dance.

February 2nd-6th: Oregon- Celebrating it's 40th year as an ensemble, the Grammy nominated jazz-fusion quartet Oregon has inspired audiences worldwide with an adventurous merging of jazz, chamber atmospheres and folkloristic scents coming from various latitudes and longitudes.

February 8th: Michael Berkowitz Big Band-Sixteen musicians, led by drummer Michael Berkowitz, will play the arrangements of Mel Torme, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Steve Lawrence and Frank Sinatra for the multi-talented award-winning performer, Billy Stritch.

February 9th: Freddie Redd Sextet-Freddie returns to his native city, bringing his sextet to the Birdland stage. Along with Freddie on piano, the sextet features tenor saxophonist Brad Linde, alto saxophonist Chris Byars, trombonist John Mosca, bassist Ari Roland and drummer Stefan Schatz.

February 10th-14th: Hilary Kole- Offering a perfect blend of romance, swing and melody, Hilary's solo debut album, "Haunted Heart," produced by jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli, has earned critical acclaim and a fast-growing local and international fanbase.

February 15th: Natalie Weiss- The singer will perform her Youtube hits, classic pop tunes, vocal impersonations and songs written and accompanied by her favorite contemporary composers. 

February 16th: Robin McKelle-With a voice often compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Robin draws as much inspiration from the 1940s jazz-singer sound as she does from Big Band Jazz of the '50s and '60s, and modern pop music in this concert.

February 17th-20th:  Lookout Farm featuring Dave Liebman, Richie Beirach, Ron McClure, & Jeff Williams-For this special four-day run, Liebman reunites with original members Beirach and Williams, along with later member, bassist Ron McClure to mark the 35th anniversary of this one of a kind ensemble and recording.

February 21st: Miranda Sings-Miranda Sings is an internet character created by Colleen Ballinger, and proliferated via YouTube. The character is a satire of increasingly common YouTube videos featuring mediocre or even bad singers who film themselves singing as a form of self promotion.

February 23rd: Hal Galper Trio-With over 82 recordings to his credit, 20 as a leader in his own right, Grammy winning pianist and composer Hal Galper is best known for his work with Chet Baker, Connonball Adderley, John Scofield and the Phil Woods Quintet.

February 24th-27th: Lou Donaldson Organ Quartet- Alto saxophonist "Sweet Poppa" Lou Donaldson, known as a bebopper,  performs his signature combination of bebop and funky soul that only his particular career path could have produced.

February 28th: Jamie deRoy & Friends: The Oscar Show, featuring Gregg Edelman, Bonnie Langford, and Christina Bianco-A popular annual celebration of Academy Award winning songs and movies. Singer and comedienne Jamie deRoy has hosted the critically acclaimed TV and stage variety show, "Jamie deRoy & Friends," for the past 18 years.

Birdland is a jazz club that opened in New York City on December 15, 1949, and headlined jazz legend Charlie Parker. The original Birdland, which was located at 1678 Broadway, just north of West 52nd Street in Manhattan,was closed in 1965 due to increased rents, but re-opened for one night in 1979. In 1986 Birdland resurfaced uptown, but after ten years the club moved back to midtown where today it offers top-flight jazz in a world class setting, good sight lines and acoustics, elbow room, and an award-winning menu featuring American cuisine with a Cajun flair.
