This week's featured composer is Brad Alexander, whose children's musical Lilly's Big Day opens at The Kaye Playhouse on October 18th! Brad adapted the popular children's story by Kevin Henkes with director Kevin Del Aguila as part of Theatreworks USA's musical revue Fly Guy & Other Stories. Alexander is the composer of See Rock City & Other Destinations, which received the 2011 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical, six Drama Desk nominations including Outstanding Music, the Richard Rodgers Award from The American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the BMI Foundation's Jerry Bock Award. Additional theatre credits include the music and orchestrations for Theatreworks USA's Click Clack Moo (Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel Award nominee), the music for Just So Storiesand Martha Speaks, and songs for Duck For President, Fly Guy & Other Stories, and We The People: America Rocks! (Lortel Award nominee). Brad's music has also been featured on Sony Records, VH1, SiriusXM's Stage Door Supper Club and web series Submissions Only. He and Jill Abramovitz are currently developing Bread & Roses, a musical adapted from the film by Paul Laverty and Ken Loach. Brad is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Association International, National Alliance for Musical Theatre, Dramatists Guild of America and member Emeritus of The BMI Musical Theatre Workshop.
