Last night, TheaterWorksUSA celebrated 57 years with its benefit at The Current at Chelsea Piers hosted by Broadway's James Snyder. The evening raised critical funds to support TheaterWorksUSA's mission which addresses the disproportionate accessibility of theater for young people by creating exceptional, transformative theatrical experiences for audiences in diverse communities throughout New York City and North America. The sold-out event honored TheaterWorksUSA champions, Marco Masotti and Tracy Stein, Judith C. Prince, and apple seeds.

Last night, sixteen Broadway stars were featured in Broadway Sings Kelly Clarkson, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series. The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. Previous fifteen concerts have included Adele, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Rihanna. On August 20, the series will continue with Broadway Sings Alanis Morissette.

The acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series will continue on June 18 at 8pm, honoring singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson with a cast of Broadway stars including Christine Dwyer (Wicked), Frankie James Grande (Rock of Ages), Emma Hunton (Next to Normal), and Ashley Park (Mean Girls). The one-night-only concert will feature completely new arrangements of the hits of the pop rock superstar, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations of her music.

Famous, a new musical based on Hollywood's most notoriously known murder welcomes Courtney Reed (In the Heights, Mamma Mia!) and Lauren Ashley Zakrin (MTV's Search for the Next Elle Woods Finalist, and National Tours of Legally Blonde, Wicked, and Grease) to comprise the cast of two that will breathe life to the stage reading taking place on December 12th, 7pm, at Roy Arias' Off Broadway Theatre, directed by Christine O'Grady (Hair) with music direction by Seth Weinstein.

The MUNY's production of Legally Blonde The Musical opened June 20 and runs through June 26. Marc Bruni and Rusty Mowery are recreating the original Broadway direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. Lauren Ashley Zakrin stars as Elle Woods, with Matthew Hydzik starring as as Warner Huntington III, Sara Sheperd as Vivienne Kensington, D. B. Bonds as Emmett Forrest, Ken Land as Professor Callahan, Lisa Howard as Paulette, Tiffany Engen as Serena, Taylor Louderman as Margot, K. B. Hart as Pilar, and Nikki Snelson as Brooke Wyndham. For those who haven't seen the film or the musical verion of LEGALLY BLOND, the plot revolves around a rich Malibu Barbie, who comes complete with an ever-present pink ensemble, named Elle Woods, who's blindly and blissfully in love with the man of her dreams. When he decides to dump her and head off to Harvard Law School, Elle follows, but as a fellow student. Her iron will and steadfast devotion allow her, thanks to the support of her friends, to apply and enter Harvard. Apparently, her deep abiding love is reason enough to allow her entrance into this prestigious academy. Once enrolled, she actually begins to excel, thanks in part to the interests of third year student Emmett Forrest.

The MUNY has just announced the full cast for its upcoming production of Legally Blonde The Musical, which opens June 20 and runs through June 26. The show will be directed by Marc Bruni and feature choreography by Rusty Mowery. Murin, Vogt, Riddle et al. Lead MUNY's THE LITTLE MERMAID this Summer

The St. Louis Muny has announced that Patti Murin, Paul Vogt and John Riddle will lead the theater's production of The Little Mermaid as Ariel, Ursula and Prince Eric, respectively. They will be joined by Lara Teeter (Scuttle), Elizabeth Teeter (Flounder), Francis Jue (Sebastian), Lee Roy Reams (Chef Louis), Gary Glasgow (Grimsby), and Ken Page (King Triton).

Weygandt Joins WICKED Tour in Boston, 9/14

The company of the first North American tour of WICKED welcomes Gene Weygandt as The Wizard on Tuesday, September 14 in Boston, MA. Weygandt, a WICKED veteran, has previously played The Wizard in Chicago and on Broadway. On Broadway, he created the role of Paul in big: The Musical and is a three-time recipient of Chicago's Jefferson Award. Mr. Weygandt's many film and TV credits include: The Birdcage, The Babe, 'The Beast,' 'Cybill,' 'Home Improvement,' 'Murphy Brown,' 'Drew Carey,' 'Ellen,' 'Coach' and 'USA High.'
