PoetWomen features the collective works of some of the foremost Black and Latino female poets across generations. This includes Nikki Giovanni, Lucille Clifton, Rita Dove, Gwendolyn Brooks, Sandra Cisneros, Sonia Sanchez, Ntozake Shange, Julia deBurgos, Gabriela Mistral and Michele Serros.
In celebration of Women's History Month, PoetWomen is a hybrid of poetry presented at times in both English and Spanish. This collection of poetry is a powerful testament to the many and varied lives that Black and Latino women share. Together these women talk about identity and heritage, spirituality, female sexuality, love, violence and empowerment. PoetWomen presents both the sensuous and the tragic, the tears and the laughter that binds women together.
The cast of PoetWomen includes actress/poets Jeannie Carson, SylviaAnn Soares, Delia Rodriguez-Masjoan, Marleny Luna, Anad Thomas and Bernadet Pitts-Wiley.
