BroadwayWorld has a first look at Rebecca the Musical in Vienna at the Raimund Theater. Known for being 'the two most successful German-language musical authors,'  Michael Kunze & Sylvester Levay's Rebecca has already captivated more than 2 million people worldwide in 12 countries and 10 languages.

BAFTA nominee Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard, Misbehaviour), Emmy Award Winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid's Tale, Hereditary), Sam Riley (Free Fire, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and Ben Crompton (Game of Thrones, Strike) join the previously announced Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James and Armie Hammer

Traveling to the most beautiful cities in Germany and Austria is always a good idea. There are many things to do, cultural highlights, historical places, great food and adorable people everywhere. Not to forget, the german speaking musical cosmos. Some of the shows are homemade, like ELISABETH, TANZ DER VAMPIRE (not the rotten Broadway version), I AM FROM AUSTRIA or MOZART ( all of them from the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien) and some are transferred from the Great White Way. Translating a show into the german language means a lot of work to keep the magic of the production as close to the original as possible.

The Austrian premiere of BODYGUARD -  THE MUSICAL will hit the stage with Vereinigte Buhnen Wien at the Ronacher, opening in September.

The seemingly never-ending saga of the ill-fated musical REBECCA, which cancelled its Broadway run in 2012, is at last coming to a close.

On the stand today in the trial was Ben Smith, an Australian property developer who at just under $2 million dollars has one of the largest stakes in the failed production.

According to Deadline, it was revealed in an opening argument that, after years of postponements, producers Ben Sprecher and Louise Florenza have indeed lost the rights to the musical.

The saga continues! The ill-fated Rebecca, which cancelled its Broadway run in 2012, will get its time in court later this month. The trial is set to begin April 24, 2017. 

Behind the scenes of the Raimund Theater in Vienna, Austria everybody is working in high gear at the newest in-house production of the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien: SCHIKANEDER - the turbulent love story behind The Magic Flute. The new musical by Stephen Schwartz (music and lyrics), Christian Struppeck (book) and Sir Trevor Nunn (director) will have its world premiere on September 30th in Vienna. Just a little over a year after our last interview with Christian Struppeck, shortly after the musical SCHIKANEDER was announced, we got to catch up with him again to find out how the show has developed since then and how things are going in the rehearsal room.

REBECCA's 2006 world premiere, directed by Francesca Zambello opened at Vereinigte Buhnen Wien in Vienna, and the musical has subsequently played in Budapest, Hungary; Bucharest, Romania; Helsinki, Finland; Stuttgart, Germany; St. Gallen, Switzerland and at the Imperial Theatre in Tokyo.

Yesterday, the New York State Supreme Court's Appellate Division affirmed last May's Supreme Court rulings in the case involving the one time Broadway-bound production of REBECCA.

SCHIKANEDER - The Turbulent Love Story Behind The Magic Flute, a romantic musical comedy about one of the 18th century's most colourful theatrical couples, celebrates its world premiere on 30 September 2016. It continues the tradition of the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien (VBW) of creating new in-house productions - the autumn production of SCHIKANEDER will be the Raimund Theater's twelfth world premiere musical. The two lead actors, Mark Seibert (Schikaneder) und Milica Jovanovic (Eleonore) recently went into the studio to record one of the songs from the musical by Stephen Schwartz  (Music and Lyrics) und VBW director Christian Struppeck (book) to give a small taste of the show: 'Traum Groß' (Dream Big).

Vienna's Vereinigte Buhnen Wien (VBW) has announced it will present the world premiere of the musical CASANOVA, from Frank Wildhorn and Don Black.

Internationally renowned, Oscar- Grammy- and Golden Globe winning composer Stephen Schwartz is currently developing a brand new musical that is set to premier in the fall of 2016 in Vienna. The project is a collaboration with Christian Struppeck, artistic director of the Vereinigte Buhnen Wien (VBW), who is also writing the book for the show, and british star-director Trevor Nunn. The musical is centered on the live of the theater couple Emanuel and Eleonore Schikaneder, who were some of the most influencial people in the opera and theater world in the 18th Century Vienna, and the creation of one of the most famous opera pieces in history, The Magic Flute. The production is produced in-house by the VBW and I recently had the opportunty to spreak to book writer and artistic director Christian Struppeck about this exciting new musical and the international cooperation with Stephen Schwartz and Trevor Nunn.

As reported last night, Broadway's ever-evolving REBECCA scandal continues, with press agent Marc Thibodeau having been found liable for sending emails that caused a potential investor to pull $2.25 million from the musical, a move that forced the project to a halt.
