Award-winning playwright David Greig has announced the details of his first season as Artistic Director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Scotland's largest producing theatre. The 2016/17 season features 11 main stage productions, including the revival of an iconic political play, a new twist on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale, Caryl Churchill's A Number, and a large-scale production featuring the citizens of Edinburgh.

The Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh is delighted to announce full casting for its epic production of the classical Greek poem, The Iliad, directed by its Artistic Director, Mark Thomson. Olivier Award nominee Melody Grove, currently nominated for 'Best Actress in a Supporting Role' for her critically acclaimed performance alongside Mark Rylance in Farinelli and the King in London's West End last winter, will perform in this lavish and visceral production that explores the basic human emotions of love, jealousy and revenge against the backdrop of the Trojan War. This will be Thomson's final production, as Artistic Director, after 13 years at Scotland's largest producing theatre. The Iliad will run from 20 April to 14 May.

The Citizens Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland are presenting This Restless House a highly-ambitious trilogy of new plays by Zinnie Harris based on Aeschylus' The Oresteia at the Citizens Theatre from 15 April 2016. Citizens Theatre Artistic Director Dominic Hill directs this exhilarating theatrical event and contemporary take on an epic Greek tragedy which will be presented in two instalments on alternate evenings and in full on Saturdays until 14 May 2016.

Artistic Director of Mercury Theatre Colchester Daniel Buckroyd today announces the full company for the UK regional premiere production of Bruce Norris' acclaimed play Clybourne Park which opens at the company's home base ahead of a national tour - Ben Deery (Karl / Steve), Dan Gaisford(Kenneth), Rebecca Manley (Bev / Kathy), Rebecca Oldfield (Betsey / Lindsey), Gloria Onitiri (Francine / Lena), Wole Sawyerr (Albert / Kevin), William Troughton (Jim / Tom) and Mark Womack (Dan / Russ). The production opens on 15 April as part of the Made in Colchester Season, with previews from 8 April and runs until 23 April. It is the first time the production will be seen in the UK outside of London.

This is followed by the return of their co- production with Filter Theatre of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM last staged in 2012. Whilst the Royal Opera will present, two contemporary operas, PLEASURE by Mark Simpson featuring well-known British soprano Lesley Garrett and the world premiere of Sarah Kane's 4:48 PSYCHOSIS by Philip Venables, both presented in association with the Lyric.

Gemma Bodinetz will direct a new adaptation of Madame Bovary with Peepolykus at the Everyman, while at the Playhouse there will be a major revival of Frank McGuinness's Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme. The winner of the seventh Papatango New Writing Prize, Tomcat by James Rushbrooke will receive a four week run at Southwark Playhouse from Wednesday 28 October (press night: Friday 30 October 8pm) to Saturday 21 Nov 2015. The director is 2014 JMK Award winner Kate Hewitt, who is currently Associate Director on Sam Mendes' Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the West End.
