West Coast Ensemble presents the second show of their 2009 season, BIG, The Musical, with book by John Weidman, music by David Shire, lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr., based on the motion picture 'BIG' written by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg. BIG, The Musical will be directed by Richard Israel (Floyd Collins, Assassins).

The Vietnam War is the setting for Miss Saigon, the upcoming musical at the Arizona Broadway Theatre scheduled to run from April 17 through May 24, 2009. This classic love story, based on the Puccini opera Madame Butterfly, is brought up-to-date with music and lyrics by Alan Boubil and Claude-Michael Schönberg (the creators of Les Misérables), with an English translation by Richard Maltby, Jr.

The Story of My Life is set to get its first post-Broadway regional production in Spring of 2010 at Act II Playhouse in Pennsylvania. Artistic director Bud Martin wrote on the Act II Insider blog 'This is a show that I saw done as a reading in a play festival last year and wanted very much to do the show at Act II and then move it to New York. While I was not able to get it to Act II first, we will be the first ones to do it after its Broadway run. It is being directed by Richard Maltby, Jr. who has written and directed many shows, including AIN'T MISBEHAVIN'.

CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, the most fantasmagorical Broadway musical in the history of everything, flies into Pittsburgh's Benedum Center beginning Tuesday, March 10, 2009, for eight performances only! Based on the timeless novel by famed James Bond author and creator Ian Fleming, the production features the music and lyrics by the legendary Sherman brothers, composers of Mary Poppins. The national tour features an original script and fresh adaptation directed by Ray Roderick.

The 2009 Festival of New American Musicals, a four-month musical theatre festival, will be held in April through July, 2009, throughout Southern California. Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett are the Executive Producers of the second annual Festival.
