Sometimes it seems there is so much theater happening that it's difficult to keep track of it all. From personal experience, despite all the datebooks, smart phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops...it's hard to keep everything straight in this wacky business of the show.

Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford ('Sylvia,' 'You Can't Take It With You,' 'Masters of Sex') has been cast as COLUMBIA, the castle's feisty live-in groupie, in the two-hour television event THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, airing this fall on FOX.

Good Theater the professional theater company in residence at the St. Lawrence Arts Center has received two grants for their upcoming production of ACT ONE.  The grants received are from the Maine Community Foundation Theater Fund and from the Davis Family Foundation.

Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) has received Honorable Mention recognition from the New England Theatre Conference (NETC) 53rd Annual Moss Hart Awards for FPAC's 2014 production of Peter Pan.

On March 4, EgoPo presents the opening of Clare Boothe Luce's comic masterpiece, The Women with an all-female cast of 19. Directed by Artistic Director Lane Savadove, EgoPo Classic Theater continues their season of influential female playwrights with Luce, a woman who led an extraordinary life as a Broadway playwright, war journalist, congresswoman, ambassador, and Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. The Women previews March 3 and opens Friday, March 4. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday March 20. Tickets start at $25. All performances are at the Latvian Society of Philadelphia on 7th and Spring Garden.

CABARET, the musical masterpiece, returns direct from Broadway!

BroadwayWorld is excited to report full casting for Bucks County Playhouse's premiere of the new musical, A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME. Bucks County Playhouse Artistic Associate Lauren Lotarro, also recently named as choreographer for Sarah Bareilles' upcoming Broadway musical WAITRESS, will direct and choreograph 'TASTE', the saucy new musical with book, music and lyrics by Debra Barsha and Hollye Levin.

Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company presented the 50th Anniversary Season Benefit Reading of THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, starring Nathan Lane. Joining him were Austin Durant ('Expressman, Technician, Police Officer'), Peter Kim ('Sandy'), Mark Linn-Baker ('Dr. Bradley'), Ned Noyes('Michaelson/Westcott/Expressman'), Harrison Unger ('Stage Directions'), Richard Poe ('Mr. Stanley'), Lee Wilkof ('Banjo') and Mary Louise Wilson ('Harriet Stanley'). Tenor Fred C. VanNess, Jr. of Beverly, MA will perform as a featured soloist in Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston's musical production CHRISTMASTIME from tonight, December 4-13, 2015 at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452). 

BroadwayWorld is excited to report that the world premiere of a New York-bound musical, a revival of a favorite American comedy and a bio-musical of one of rock n' roll's most influential artists are the first three productions set for Bucks County Playhouse's 2016 theater season.

Today in 1981, Merrily We Roll Along closed at the Alvin Theatre (now the Neil Simon Theatre), where it ran for 16 performances. Merrily We Roll Along is a musical with a book by George Furth and lyrics and music by Stephen Sondheim. It is based on the 1934 play of the same name by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. Furth and Sondheim retained the basic structure and overall theme of the play but updated it to encompass the period from 1957 to 1976. The story revolves around Franklin Shepard who, having once been a talented composer of Broadway musicals, has now abandoned his friends and his songwriting career to become a producer of Hollywood flicks. Like the play, the musical begins at the height of his Hollywood fame and moves backwards in time, showing snapshots of the most important moments in Frank's life that shaped the man that he is today.
