The world premiere of Palomino by award-winning author and virtuoso performer David Cale opens Kansas City Repertory Theatre's 2009-10 Sprint Series at Copaken Stage.

The Wilma Theater opens its 2009-2010 Season with Coming Home, the latest work by internationally acclaimed playwright Athol Fugard ? the second most frequently produced playwright at the Wilma, following Tom Stoppard. The Wilma?s production of Coming Home, directed by the Wilma?s co-Artistic Director Blanka Zizka, is only the play?s third production, after its premiere at New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre earlier this year.

The Yale Repertory Theatre presents Danai Gurira's ECLIPSED previews began, October 24th, and the show opened October 29th. The cast features Pascale Armand, Zainab Jah, Adepero Oduye, Stacey Sargeant, and Shona Tucker.

The gladness of your heart is the greatest gift of all. The Huntington Theatre Company continues its 28th season - a season of American Stories - with A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration, a new uplifting holiday event by Pulitzer Prize winner Paula Vogel (How I Learned to Drive, The Mineola Twins, The Baltimore Waltz).

Anna Deavere Smith's new play, LET ME DOWN EASY, currently playing off-Broadway, evolved from an original set of interviews done by Smith. While at Yale, the chairman of the department of medicine asked her to produce a play based on interviews with patients and doctors to present to the medical staff.

The critically praised solo performance piece Palomino, written, performed and directed by Obie-winner David Cale, ends its run at Kansas City Repertory Theatre on Sunday, November 15. The world-premiere production began October 9 at the Rep's Copaken Stage and has received only rave reviews.

Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) will launch its 31st season this fall with the New York premiere of Anna Deavere Smith's LET ME DOWN EASY. Conceived, written, and performed by Ms. Smith and directed by Leonard Foglia, LET ME DOWN EASY will begin preview performances on Tuesday, September 15 and will officially open on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:45pm.

On Saturday, November 7, 2009, the rides are closed but the doors are open at Long Wharf Theatre while its holds its third annual Discovery Day, a community outreach event that introduces area children and families to the fantastical world of theatre.

Opening night is Monday, November 9th, for the world premiere production of WHAT ONCE WE FELT, a new play by Ann Marie Healy, the first production of LCT3's second season at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street® project, (229 W. 42 Street). Opal Alladin, Mia Barron, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Lynn Hawley, Ronete Levenson and Ellen Parker are featured in the production directed by Ken Rus Schmoll, which is the first of LCT3's three productions during the 2009-2010 season.

Each year The Playwrights Realm will choose a select number of emerging playwrights as the 'Playwrights Realm Writers Fellows.' As a Writers Fellow, the chosen playwrights will receive a monetary stipend, as well as additional support in the form of, office space at The Playwrights Realm offices, office supplies, administrative assistance, and artistic support all culminating in an open reading of their work.
