The Public Theater will begin performances for Public Studio's two inaugural plays, THE URBAN RETREAT by A. Zell Williams, and MANAHATTA, by Mary Kathryn Nagle, tonight, May 15. The two plays will be presented as pared-down productions and run in repertory through Sunday, May 25 in The Public's Shiva Theater.

Geva Theatre Center's 2014 Fielding Studio Series concludes with the world premiere of Tinker to Evers to Chance by Mat Smart and directed by Sean Daniels. The production begins performances on May 15 and runs in the Fielding Nextstage through June 1.

New Repertory Theatre proudly announces an encore presentation of Deborah Margolin's Imagining Madoff, May 28 through June 1, 2014 at the Boston University Theatre Lane-Comley Studio 210. Nominated for two 2014 Elliot Norton Awards (Outstanding Production; Outstanding Actor, Jeremiah Kissel), Imagining Madoff is co-presented with Boston Center for American Performance (BCAP) and is directed by Elaine Vaan Hogue. Noel Coward's fast-talking comedy of manners Private Lives will close the Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2013-2014 Season. Directed by Maria Aitken (2009-2010 Season's As You Like It), Private Lives enjoyed wild success at the Huntington Theatre Company in 2012, being deemed 'a diamond-sharp production' (The Boston Globe) and will find a home at the Lansburgh Theatre from May 29-July 13, 2014 (450 7th Street NW).

Huntington's Spotlight Spectacular Raises Over $980,000

Spectacular Broadway entertainment and more than 400 guests celebrated Wimberly Award recipients Huntington Trustee John D. Spooner and Tony Award-winning director Mary Zimmerman (The Jungle Book and Candide) while raising more than $980,000 (with additional gifts still coming in) to support the Huntington's renowned education and community programs at the Huntington Theatre Company's Spotlight Spectacular last Monday, April 28. 'Transforming lives,' said Managing Director Michael Maso. 'That's why we are here - to ensure another year of access to the Huntington's programs for thousands of young people.' The total raised also includes proceeds from an online auction that closed Friday evening, May 2.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for recent Tony Award-winning comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Appearing in titles roles are Resident Actor Jeffrey Bean as Vanya, Sharon Lockwood returning to the Alley as Sonia, Alley Artist Josie de Guzman returning as Masha, and Resident Actor Jay Sullivan as Spike. Rounding out the cast and making their Alley debuts are Rachael Holmes as Cassandra and Sarah Nealis as Nina. Jonathan Moscone, Artistic Director of California Shakespeare Theater, helms the production and returns after having directed the Alley's 2011 production of Amadeus.

Huntington Theatre Company concludes its 2013-2014 Season with Smart People, a sharp and provocative new comedy by Huntington Playwriting Fellow Lydia R. Diamond. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (The Power of Duff) helms the newest play from the author of the Huntington's 2010 hit production of Stick Fly. Performances of Smart People begin at the South End / Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA on May 23. Due to popular demand, the run has been extended to Sunday, June 29, 2014.
