Lyric Opera Of Chicago Unveils 2012-13 Season Poster by Artist Per Arnoldi

Renowned painter, sculptor, and designer Per Arnoldi has produced this season's Lyric Opera poster. The graphic is bold, blue, yellow, and red - an interpretation of the Lyric theme: "Long Live Passion:" a flaming red heart is dramatically cut out of the musical score of La boheme!

Franklin Performing Arts Company Announces Cast for THE NUTCRACKER, 12/8-9

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) announces casting for the 2012 holiday production of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. More than 100 young dancers from 25 area towns will perform in the production. Performances will take place on Saturday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Thomas D. Mercer Auditorium, 224 Oak Street, in Franklin. Erica Cornejo, Boston Ballet principal dancer, and Carlos Molina, former American Ballet Theatre soloist and Boston Ballet principal, will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier. Smuin Ballet kicks off its bold 2012 -2013 season with a revival of its smash hit Oh, Inverted World by Trey McIntyre, the West Coast premiere of Cold Virtues by rising star choreographer Adam Hougland, and three works by the late Michael Smuin: Starshadows, Homeless, and No Vivire. Smuin Ballet's Fall Program runs tonight, October 5-14, 2012 at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, San Francisco. Kids THIRTEEN Launches 50th Anniversary Kids Poster Contest

New York's THIRTEEN, the flagship station of PBS, is engaged in a year-long celebration to commemorate its 50th anniversary. To help celebrate, Kids THIRTEEN is inviting children grades K - 8 in the tri-state area, to create a poster inspired by their favorite THIRTEEN kids programming to wish THIRTEEN a happy 50th Anniversary. The contest runs through December 7, 2012.

American Repertory Ballet Announces BEHIND THE CURTAIN: INSIDE SWAN LAKE, 11/9

Joshua Henry Joins Cast of COTTON CLUB PARADE at New York City Center, 11/14-18

Joshua Henry will join Amber Riley ("Glee"), Jared Grimes and Adriane Lenox in New York City Center's acclaimed production of Cotton Club Parade, returning for seven performances from November 14-18, 2012. (Mr. Henry replaces the previously announced Brandon Victor Dixon. Mr. Dixon is no longer available due to scheduling conflicts.) Conceived by Jack Viertel and presented under the auspices of City Center's Tony Award-winning Encores! series, Cotton Club Parade will once again be directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, with music direction by Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. The show will feature the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars under the direction of Daryl Waters.

New York City Center Presents Pacific Northwest Ballet in February 2013

New York City Center will present Pacific Northwest Ballet in its first full-company performance in NYC since 1996, February 13-16, 2013. PNB, celebrating its 40th Anniversary season, will present two programs featuring a mixed repertoire of Balanchine ballets and Jean-Christophe Maillot's full-length Romeo et Juliette. The troupe will be accompanied by the PNB Orchestra, led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Emil de Cou.

LA Phil's 2012 THE PHILHARMONIC DANCES Opening Night Gala Offers Diverse Program Tonight, 9/27

The Los Angeles Philharmonic begins its 2012/13 season with an evening honoring the rich tradition of dance rhythms in orchestral music with its Opening Night Concert and Gala: The Philharmonic Dances, led by Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, tonight, September 27, at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The Philharmonic Dances opens with a pre-concert cocktail reception, at 6 pm, followed by the 7 pm concert, with dinner and dancing to follow.

American Ballet Theatre's Opening Night Gala at New York City Center on Tuesday, October 16 will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Agnes de Mille's Rodeo with a special tribute to the ballet's premiere. ABT's Opening Night Gala will also include performances of Mark Morris's Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes, a pas de deux from James Kudelka's Cruel World, and the Company premiere of the pas de deux from George Balanchine's Stars and Stripes.

Pace University’s Lubin School of Business Announces New Arts & Entertainment Management Program

Pace University's Lubin School of Business has launched a new Arts and Entertainment Management (AEM) concentration that addresses the growing interest of business students in the management side of industries within the broad range of the arts/entertainment field. Management majors concentrating in Arts and Entertainment Management earn a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree that prepares them for careers in theater companies, museums, dance companies, art galleries, talent representation and management companies, and television production firms, as well as in related support services.

First Howard Gilman Fellow David Parsons of Parsons Dance Receives MFA from Jacksonville University

This summer, David Parsons was awarded a Master of Fine Arts from Jacksonville University. Mr. Parsons was the first recipient of the Howard Gilman Fellowship to attend the MFA program at the university. This full tuition fellowship is given to one MFA candidate each year. One of the missions of the Howard Gilman Foundation at White Oak is to nurture the artist in development. The MFA at JU nurtures the development of rigorous and refined relationships between three aspects of creative production: stimulus, practice, and analysis.
