American Shakespeare Center on Tour Brings the Bard to The Alden for One Day Only, 4/7

By:

Staunton's American Shakespeare Center (ASC) will bring its brisk and authentic stagings of "The Winter's Tale" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" to the Alden on Saturday, April 7. Tickets are $30/$20 McLean tax district residents.

"The Winter's Tale" will be performed at 2 p.m. on April 7. A work of unspeakable beauty that only Shakespeare could put into words, the play encompasses tragedy, comedy, fairy tale and romance. In the words of the director, Jim Warren, the play treats audiences to "a feast that delivers the entrée, salad, dessert, and appetizer in unique but delicious ways."

The performance of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will take place at 8 p.m. on April 7. Shakespeare's frisky tale of royals, lovers, fairies, mortals and workaday rubes remains his most accessible and an audience favorite for all ages.

Tickets for each show are $30/$20 McLean tax district residents and are on sale now. A lucky few ticket-holders will be upgraded to onstage seats. Onstage seats will be distributed via Facebook contests at www.Facebook.com/TheAlden. Discounts are available to seniors, students and groups of eight or more. Tickets can be purchased online at www.aldentheatre.org. For more information, call 703-790-0123, TTY: 711, or visit: www.aldentheatre.org
