At NextStage, we don’t see diversity as a “goal” or “mission” but a basic expectation. We believe support comes from action. More diverse artists equal better art. We vow to constantly support artists of all races, sexual orientation, gender, and disability during times of crisis and peace. We vow to respect their stories and use vigilance in casting to make sure those stories are told by the artists who live them.
With that, NextStage is thrilled to announce a new branch to our company. We are currently seeking scripts and music written exclusively by BIPOC, women, individuals with disabilities and members of the LGBTQAI+ community. These works will be considered for presentation through our Dream Company. This troupe will produce author paid staged and virtual readings for new works and writers that aren’t typically highlighted at theatre’s highest level. The force behind NextStage asks artists “how can you use NextStage to grow” rather than “how can NextStage use you for one particular production”. We look forward to storytelling with you.
