AMLETO, an opera by Franco Faccio with a libretto by Arrigo Boito based on Shakespeare's "Hamlet," which was reconstructed by conductor Anthony Barrese and not performed for 145 years since its Genoa premiere in 1865 and an 1871 La Scala revival, will be broadcast nationally throughout the United States by the WFMT Radio Network today, November 28, 2015. The production was originally broadcast live on KHFM Albuquerque, where the work was given its American premiere.

A live stream of the performance which will give further details regarding the upcoming Opera Delaware production, including how to download a libretto of AMLETO, can be heard online at www.wrti.org.

The production sung in Italian, was directed by David Bartholomew with scenic design by Carey Wong, and featured tenor Alex Richardson as AMLETO; soprano Abla Hamza sings Ofelia; mezzo-soprano Caroline Worra, formerly of the New York City Opera, as Queen Geltrude; baritone Shannon DeVine as Claudio; bass Michael Gallup as Polonio, and bass Jeffrey Beruan as Lo Spettro, the ghost.

OPERADELAWARE, now entering its 72nd season, will present the fully staged East Coast premiere of this work Saturday evening, May 14, at 8 p.m., Friday evening, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoon, May 22, at 2 p.m. as part of its spring festival. For the AMLETO production, directed by E. Loren Meeker, tenor Joshua Kohl will sing the title role of Hamlet; soprano Sarah Asmar is Ofelia, baritone Timothy Mix is Claudio, and mezzo-soprano Lara Tillotson is Gertrude. Maestro Barrese will conduct the OPERADELAWARE Orchestra, and the sets will be designed by Peter Tupitza. (Lighting and costumes t.b.a.) The festival will also include a production of Verdi's timeless Falstaff Sunday afternoon, May 15, at 2 p.m. and Saturday evening, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online here.
