David Thomson [Trisha Brown, Ralph Lemon] and Cynthia Oliver [Ronald K. Brown/ Evidence, Bebe
Miller], Sister weaves dynamic dance vocabularies into an intimate, complex, yet often playful tapestry, creating an unexpected universe. The performance of Sister will lead into a presentation/conversation by O'Connor - a major force in contemporary dance equally renowned as the "smart, affable (The Village Voice)" provocateur who squared off with The New Yorker, as he is for being a charismatic influence on scores of today's leading choreographers.

Sister is one of three interconnected works O'Connor "collapsed" into his singular masterpiece BLEED. The three shorter dance pieces that are BLEED's source material will be performed over the nine days of Irreconcilability - Sister, poem and Secret Mary. All three pieces use O'Connor's lifelong obsession with the vast possibilities of human movement to create a brand-new choreographic language.

On the Boards presents BLEED and two of three shorter companion works that informed BLEED: Secret Mary and poem. Velocity presents the final companion work, Sister, created for two legendary performers David Thomson [Trisha Brown, Ralph Lemon] and Cynthia Oliver [Ronald K. Brown/Evidence Bebe Miller]. The Velocity performance is followed by a presentation/community conversation with O'Connor.

Open For(u)m: Irreconcilability, Tere O'Connor is an educational/community partnership between Velocity and OtB: nine days of activities focused on O'Connor's influential views on dance and contemporary culture. Irreconcilability features dance screenings, discussions, classes, book readings and more, curated by Velocity Artistic Director Tonya Lockyer with Tere O'Connor.
