VINTAGE SWING Comes to Anvil Centre Theatre

By:

VINTAGE SWING Comes to Anvil Centre Theatre ImageDo you love Swing? Love to dance? Love live music? Then you don't want to miss this unique experience at the Anvil Centre on Sat. Nov. 17th at 8pm. Royal City Swing and the Anvil Centre are presenting, Vintage Swing, a blend of social swing dancing and concert together. The evening features Company B Jazz Band, one of Vancouver's best Swing jazz bands with a harmonizing female vocal trio in vintage style, ala the Andrew Sisters!

The fun will begin with Royal City Swing dance club doing a demonstration and lesson and then the evening transforms to a concert with dancing featuring DJ Afonso and Company B Jazz Band journeying us back in time to the swing era. Add to the fun and wear a full vintage costume (or not) and join in the dancing or watch, or both. Enjoy the many styles of Swing - the Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Jive, Balboa, and more!

Royal City Swing offers a social dance community with drop in dance workshops throughout the year. They teach about various dances that are part of the swing family, and help with connections between friends and making new ones. Their belief is that social dancing is about partnership, enjoyment and exercise. This special event takes those values and offers them to a larger audience of both experienced dancers and those who wish to try dance or anybody who loves live music.

Journey back in time, dress in period costume, have a themed cocktail, enjoy hearing the best Swing Jazz Band in the region and dance your feet off!
