UMD Dance Faculty to Honor Dance Place Reopening with INSERT [] HERE, 6/21-22
Audience members will explore the newly-renovated Dance Place with INSERT [ ] HERE, a site-specific contemporary dance event featuring three performers from the University of Maryland community.
The performance features TDPS alumna Erin Crawley-Woods (MFA Dance '14) and current student Lynne Price (MFA Dance Candidate), as well as senior violin performance major Alexa Cantalupo, who will provide live music.
Created by D.C. artist Sharon Mansur and Ireland native Nick Bryson, the performance builds on the idea of insertion through kinetic, spatial, aural and visual realms. The intimacy created between performer and audience explores relationships between time and sensation, sight and perception and space and place.
INSERT [ ] HERE will be a "rite of passage" for a familiar, yet new performance space.
The performance is supported, in part, by a University of Maryland Creative and Performing Arts Award, the Minnesota Conservatory for the Arts and the Birr Theatre and Arts Centre, Ireland.
